Lipitor side effects are generally well tolerated

The side effects of Lipitor (atorvastatin) and other cholesterol lowering medications (called statins) have been the subject of much controversy in recent years. For this reason, many people are now looking for natural alternatives to statins to avoid the possible Lipitor side effects.

Headaches, muscle pain, and joint pain are common side effects that have been reported with Lipitor. Side effects that are less common include lack of appetite, back pain, and constipation. Although most people have no problems when taking the drug, serious side effects of Lipitor, such as unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, should be reported to your healthcare provider right away.

Atorvastatin (Lipitor) is generally well-tolerated. Adverse reactions have usually been mild and transient. In controlled clinical studies of 2502 patients, <2% of patients were discontinued due to adverse experiences attributable to Atorvastatin (Lipitor). The most frequent adverse events thought to be related to Atorvastatin (Lipitor) were constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain.
