Proviron (mesterolone) anti-estrogen special precautions

Proviron (mesterolone) is a synthetic, orally effective androgen which does not have any anabolic characteristics. Proviron is used in medicine to case or cure disturbances caused by a deficiency of male sex hormones.

Mesterolone's molecular structure gives it special properties that set it apart from testosterone and all the drugs derived from testosterone that are used for this type of therapy, in that it is not broken down by the body (metabolised) to estrogen. This difference almost certainly accounts for the findings that, in its usual therapeutic dosage in normal men, Mesterolone does not significantly depress the release of gonadotrophins from the pituitary.

Proviron should not be used by patients with pre-existing liver tumors. As Proviron can enlarge the prostate, elderly men or men with pre-existing prostate cancer should also avoid using Proviron. Before taking Proviron, check with your pharmacist which medicines are safe for you to take alongside Mesterolone. Keep your regular appointment with your doctor so your progress can be monitored. You may need to have regular medical examinations whilst you are taking these tablets.

Mesterolone should not be used for enhancing muscular development in healthy individuals or for increasing physical ability. If you experience frequent or persistent erection you must consult your doctor. Your dose may need to be adjusted or treatment stopped to avoid injury to the penis.
