Uprima is a prescription medication used for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction or ED. Erectile dysfunction is a condition in which a man cannot achieve an erection sufficient enough for intercourse. Uprima helps men achieve erections by stimulating the region of the brain called the hypothalamus. As a result, the body increases the production of dopamine, an important chemical in the body that helps trigger erection.
These receptors in turn transmit excitatory signals down the spinal cord to the sacral parasympathetic nucleus, stimulating activity of the sacral nerves supplying the penis. As the penile smooth muscle relaxes, the pelvic arteries dilate. The dilated arteries then fill with blood and the penis becomes erect.
The normal recommended Uprima dose for is one 2 mg Uprima tablet 20 minutes before engaging in sexual activity. Before you take Uprima, drink a full glass of water. This will help the Uprima tablet dissolve properly. After drinking the water, place the Uprima tablet under your tongue and let it dissolve slowly.
