Mucopolysaccharide is the protein gel of skin.
Mucopolysaccharides are original name given to chains of sugar molecules used in the building of bones, skin, cartilage, tendons, and many other tissues in the body. They are commonly referred to as glycosaminoglycans. Molecules of positive and negative charged sugars which bind water to the tissues and mimics the skins own intercellular cements, and its ability to hold water.
Mucopolysaccharides are said to have a positive influence on skin, especially on skin modification in cellulites and responsible for the elasticity, resilience and the strength of the skin. With advancing age the dermal mucopolysaccharide content decreases, so by replenishment, the skin will longer remain stronger and softer.
